LG Toronto Fashion Week Personal Style~~Day 5

Image

Oh the woes of the fabulous…as you guys know I had my outfits planned in advance for the entire week, and for day 5 I decided that I would give the awesome David Dixon a nod by wearing my Barbie t-shirt.  Ask me if I made it to the tents in time to actually watch the show. Uh no…I didn’t, totally over slept, I needed a nap believe me and by the time I woke up got ready and got down there the show was already started.  So I watched on the monitor and took deep breaths as each model passed down the runway.  More on that show in another post.

There was no shortage of hotness under the tents on the last day and I for one LOVE it!  Take a look at what I wore and what other fashion lovers had on that day!

Cheers!

LG Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2012~~Baby Steinberg

Image

So the Baby Steinberg show took place on day 5 of fashion week during the day, so I was glued to a computer screen while this collection made its way down the runway.  I knew that this was a show that people were looking forward to seeing after she did her mini presentation last month.  My first introduction to her was during my first season at LG  where I discovered that she had been the designer behind the flower dress that was on the website and apart of the images for that season of fashion week, I was impressed with what she was able to do with so many flowers. I had a feeling that this show would be a good one.  Then I saw the pictures! Totally confused, I was like uh…uh…uh…uh what’s going on here.  I didn’t like anything about this collection really, except the chunky knit off the shoulder dress/top not quite sure what it was.  Not to mention…chunky knits in the summer?  Who would wear that? Needless to say this collection fell waaaay short for me, too much confused pieces with poor fabrication.  Overall it just looked amateur, not a collection you would expect to see on the last day of fashion week to be sure, but hey you be the judge the pics are below!

LG Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2012~~Korhani

Image

The Korhani home rug runway is probably the most unique show that happens at LG Toronto Fashion Week.  Considering that they are primarily a home decor company putting designs on the runway was probably not what they had originally thought the company would be doing.  Last season was their first collection and they had several different sections to their show with influences from the 50’s that had almost a Flintstonian feel.  This season they had a theme and it was a great one Alice in Wonderland complete with the white rabbit.  It’s difficult to judge a show like this on its fashionable merits but it’s nothing if it’s not entertaining.  I happen to think that fashion should be entertaining and a show like this is right up my alley.  I didn’t actually get to attend this show but of course I made sure to get you guys the pictures.

LG Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2012~~VAWK

Image

Do you know who Sunny Fong is?…I’ll wait…No? Where have you been living, under a rock? Certainly not a fashionable rock in any case.  Well let me educate you since you insist on being ignorant, he is the designer behind the label VAWK der…hence the title of the post! Beyond that he was also the winner of Project Runway Canada and he had an awesome reception this season at LG Toronto Fashion Week.

This is the second VAWK collection that I have seen and one of the things that I noticed about his show was that he was the only designer to use models that were not “typical” he had a plus size and a senior model on his runway and this season he brought them back; much to the appreciation of the crowd.  I’m not going to lie the plus size model was working her dress.  It looked great on her, just more proof that VAWK can be worn by many types of women.  Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…His collection started with beautiful flowing dresses in what appeared to be chiffon embellished with gold applique.  I was so taken aback I was supposed to be tweeting and I totally spaced, I was completely caught up in the clothes.  I find that happens to me when a collection is unexpected or I’m just in thrall…this was the latter! I was also in LOVE with the swim wear, uh of course you would have to be or have a models body to wear one, but dang, they were HOT!

Check out the pics and tell me what you think!

LG Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2012~~Joe Fresh

The Joe Fresh show took place the day that I decided I didn’t want to brave the elements or the crowds to venture downtown.  I know I missed an awesome collection but I have the pictures for you so you can be the judge! I also found video of the collection from l’oreal Canada, they give us a behind the scenes look at the beauty for the show as well as a short interview with Joe himself on what the inspiration for the collection is.  So check out the video and then look at the pictures!

LG Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2012~~Bustle

Image

There are a few collections every season that we all look forward to seeing; Pink Tartan, Joe Fresh, Denis Gagnon, David Dixon, Greta Constantine and of course Bustle.  One of only a handful of mens wear designers this duo certainly manages to dress the Bustle man with expert tailoring a fantastic manipulation of fabrics and a surprising use of colours.

Part of my love for this show every year is the male models, Ha I’m a creep..Ha but I do also attend for the clothes, it’s always good to know how a man can look and what options are out there for them!  So without further ado here is the latest collection from Bustle…

LG Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2012~~Caroline Neron

Image

I was back under the tents yesterday and I must say it was a more somber feeling, I guess after the insanity that was Pink Tartan and Joe Fresh fashion lovers needed a more chill and relaxed vibe.  It was all good to me considering that was one of the reasons I didn’t attend the day before.

I arrived in time to see the Caroline Neron collection showing in the studio and didn’t know what to expect, from the press kit on my seat I learned that she was a jewellery designer, but again I had no major expectations after I discovered this.  Well her collection of jewellery was breath-taking but more so was the production she made of it.  She opened her show with a recording depicting the journey of the Goddess, followed by a vocalist performing a haunting and beautiful song.

By the time the first model hit the catwalk no body knew what to expect.  But what came was a surprise to everybody…A picture tells a thousand words!
