World Mastercard Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013~Day 1~Pink Tartan

Kim Newport-Mimram is my go to designer for Fashion week.  I wouldn’t say I get overly excited to see her collection every season but that’s just because I feel like for me she is the Michael Jordan of Fashion Week. She always executes amazingly well.  Her collections are always cohesive, they are always well styled, they are always on trend, and they are above all else wearable.  I rarely if ever have anything negative or critical to say about her collections and to be perfectly honest when I’m having my strutting down Bay street day dreams I’m wearing her Green peplum jumpsuit from Fall/Winter 2012.  It’s usually summer in my day dreams…But she does not disappoint….

LG Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2012~~Pink Tartan

So I decided not to attend on Day 3 for a few reasons the first of which being I had a deadline to meet for Global Fashion, I am currently in a training course for 8 hours each day, I knew the line ups were going to be absolutely NUTS and the weather was horrible; it rained all day here in Toronto.  So after doing what I so rarely do, but have been forced to do this week (take the bus). I got lunch came home and decided I would get caught up, I made sure that I had all of the photos I needed and just spent some time relaxing. So the obvious question is, what did I miss?

Pink Tartan, the only show I really wanted to see and the reasoning there is obvious Kim always delivers a solid collection.  I have seen the last two seasons and have yet to be disappointed and this season appears to be no different.  Though I was not there to see the collection come down the runway I am no less impressed with what Kim did.  She has a fondness of bright colors and she is definitely not afraid to use them better than that she knows how!  I am particularly in love with the cobalt blue shirt dress that Andrej Pejic wore, not to mention the Burnt Orange/Red cigarette pants.

This collection had it all stripes, prints, solids and she even threw in some polka dots in a trench style jacket paired with matching cigarette pants; just to be audacious!   A little something for everyone.  Overall the collection is young and fresh; simply perfect for Spring and summer!

So it’s September and for those of us who took some time away from blogging over the summer; September is a full return to the madness that is Fashion. There are two fashion weeks currently running, New York and Montreal, but at this point I am posting video of collections from New York fashion week.  Personally I am waiting to see the Marchesa presentation,  Which designer do you most want to see?

LG Toronto Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011 Day 2

I’ve been commenting that the collections coming out of Toronto Fashion week this season are fantastic.  I mean, that may not surprise some of you but I expect to not like at least one or two shows that I attend.  How could every single designer present a collection that is totally me?   It sounds ludicrous even when I say it out loud.  In any case that is exactly what’s happening I have yet to be disappointed.  High points for me as expected; Pink Tartan the show was awesome just flawless in its execution colour palette and fluidity. Chloe Comme Parris was also great and even the Korhani Rug Runway show had its points.  The day closed with Bustle which was also a great show that featured dog sleds and snow!

I was backstage today and got to interview the designer from Korhani, as well as take a picture with the adorable pink poodle from the show.  She was so sweet and well-behaved.  The dog not the designer.  (LoL)  You’ll be able to see that interview on TGIF TV as well as the footage I got of Glen Baxter of In Fashion giving me his opinion on Chloe Comme Parris.  Overall it was a day filled with good design and fashion fever from the crowd attending!

Check out the pics from the day below.

LG Toronto Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011 Day 1

Monday was the first day of fashion week here in Toronto and I have your scoop on what the venue looked like and a sneak peek of the shows from last night.

So far my favourites are the looks from the Pink Tartan portion of the Holt Renfrew show and pretty much the entire IZMA collection.  If this is any indication of  what the other collections will be looking like this season then we will be experiencing some amazing  clothes!  A fashionista’s heaven!  Every major fashion personality was in the building last night and Jeanne Becker had the great pleasure of introducing Robin Kay who opened the evening with warm remarks. In any case check out the pictures below and check back here daily for your LG Toronto Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011  scoop!

LG Toronto Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011–Runway Photos

So it’s taken way too long for me to do this and I’ve been talking about it for a few weeks now but I’ve gotten the pics that I was looking for and the ones that I wanted to share with you.   So here are the other collections that I didn’t post and some of the end of runway shots that I didn’t have when I was covering the shows daily.

Okay so that was the official final post for my LG Toronto Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 coverage.  I hope you enjoyed it! ( Photos courtesy of John Headley)

LG Toronto Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 Collections Day 1

It’s officially day three of fashion week but only day two for me, and I am here poised at my laptop banging out a post before I have to get dressed and head to the venue to do it all again.  This is my first Fashion Week that I’m covering for my blog so obviously I am extremely excited.  I want to see it all and talk to people and revel in the irreverence that is fashion in this city.  It seems that everyone has the same ideas with respect to what you can find or expect from Canadian designers and what they have to offer.  Which;  is that they are all extremely talented forward thinking individuals who have the potential if not the desire to be on the international stage.

Okay so let’s get started…

The Venue…

Shows are taking place at Heritage Court on the CNE grounds in downtown Toronto, and they managed to make a large hall look like it was the appropriate setting for this city’s most fabulous to be hob nobbing with each other.  Walking into the venue you find the presentations, these are for those designers who aren’t doing a runway show but still want to get exposure for their work.  Check out the pics!

After the presentations there was a beauty section where you could get your hair and make-up done.  There were sketch artists in the DHL booth; you could get your picture taken on a LG Toronto Fashion Week backdrop, and do some shopping in the Attittude by Sears booth.  Then finally top it all off at one of the bars before you headed in to see the shows.  Oh yeah how could I forget the life-size Ken dolls….can we say drool!

The shows…

I saw Pink Tartan, Jessica Jensen + Alexander Berardi, and Line Knitwear.  All of the shows were great, and considering that I had never heard of Jessica Jensen and or Alexander Berardi before yesterday; I was very pleasantly surprised with the looks that came down the runway!  The Pink Tartan show was hands down my favourite which is what I expected,  it was full of colour, completely wearable and the shoes were to die for!

Star Sightings….
