The 2011 Dj Stylus weekend took place from May 27- May 30. If you don’t know what they are I will let you know. The Stylus awards and spinfest weekend take place every year to celebrate Dj’s, producers, artists, and lovers of music across Canada. Lending a voice to an OH so important segment of the music industry that often does not get the credit that it deserves. Dj’s keep us bumpin in the club, they break and release new music first and they are generally on the ground floor when it comes to what’s hot right now.
So in an effort to recognize those who keep our toes tapping I went to see who was showing up on the Red Carpet and of course what they were wearing…this is a fashion blog after all.
I had a great time taking pics and interviewing people on the carpet with the help of my correspondent for the day Deirdre. The video is coming soon…but in the meantime check out the pictures! Big shout out to Ryan Singh Enterprises for the videography!
So I wasn’t actually there for this show which is all good, considering I missed the show because I had to work. Hey, it happens and I knew I wouldn’t be able to see it because all of the evening shows had been running late all week so staying wasn’t an option. In any case I did get the photos and am glad to present them to you. This is Line knitwear the closing show for fashion week. Considering all of the superb collections that came down the runway this season I imagine it must have been difficult to close the week. This was one of the best weeks that I have seen with respect to designer collections. Designers have really stepped up their game and have really, (I believe) announced to the fashion world at large that they are capable of putting together wearable, well designed, well cut, cohesive and most importantly sellable collections. If this is where we are now, regardless of how long it’s taken to arrive here we have a bright and beautiful future ahead of us! Yay for Canadian fashion!
So I’ve been lax in getting these final pictures up and out to you guys. Hopefully you’re not too upset, in any case here are the photos from Amanda Lew Kee which was the only show I actually made it to on Day 5. Of course it was also the only show that I really wanted to see on Day 5 as well. And well it was sooooo worth it!

This young designer is going places yall, she’s established herself as the one of the ones to watch and I’m sure we will be seeing great things from her in the future.
So there was alllot that happened this day that I straight missed, thank the lord that I had two photographers there to capture every fabulous minute of it.
I managed to drag my very tired, swollen footed butt into the venue in time to see the Amanda Lew Kee show, which happened to be the show that I wanted to see. Annnnd it was worth the wait. I won’t say that I loved every single look that came down the runway, but I will say that I was really feeling the all black everything with the gold trim and gold exposed zippers. I also loved the sheer panels that she incorporated into her leggings.
In any case check out the pics from around the venue and the backstage beauty for OR by Angela Chen…
I had so many behind the scenes pics and beauty pics this season that I have to split the day’s coverage into two posts. So stay on the blog and check out the show pics from my fav show of the day. Amanda Lew Kee!
As I was telling yall yesterday, this is the show that I was blowing into the venue to see at a full run. Check out the pics below of the Basch by Brandon Dwyer show.

A little different of a collection then we had been seeing all week but Brandon still managed to include the trends that are coming out of the season. Purple and Green and Orange are the colours to shop for when Fall hits. There is a shade for you so find one and experiment.
So here are the collections from Day 4 that I was really feeling. Rudsak’s show just made me want to wear outer wear and shoes and nothing else because their coats are beyond sick. I also really enjoyed the Lundstrom show because it started with great choreography and lighting and as I said during the Bustle show I love a little production with my fashion.

So like 41 pictures in it’s all Rudsak Gahhhhh I don’t know how to not just pick one or two pictures…..LOL! Okay so here’s the deal I will do an all pics post for each of the collections that I have. Sorry yall that will come up in the next couple of days. Sounds good? I know it does. Check back here…..
As promised I dedicated a whole post to the Attitude by Jay Manuel show. Just in case you didn’t know this collection was styled by June Ambrose herself, so you know it’s going to be in the words of the Diva herself Haute!

So did I lie about the collection? I had to give you guys the distant shot and the close up so you can catch the fever that these models were giving off on the runway. Hands down the best walked show of the week! There is still day 4 and 5 coverage to come so check back here in a few.
Hey fashion lovers and fashion followers. Day three was just awesome! I met June Ambrose, we were hanging backstage talking, laughing and taking pictures, #nobigdeal. LOL…I also had the coolest interviews with Dani winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 and Aminat also from America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12. They were both funny and down to earth. On top of which they also stomped it down the runway.
I’m not sure about anybody else but the show that I was most looking forward to seeing was the Attitude by Jay Manuel at Sears. Boy he did not disappoint! As we entered the runway room we all wondered about the blueish looking runway that was in the room. Turns out it wasn’t blue at all it was jet black and shiny. He was the only designer to use a non-white runway. It was also a packed house and I along with everybody else was anticipating what was about to go down. The show opened with Super model Yasmin in an all white pant suit, which set the tone for the flawless collection that was to come. I’m not going to give away anymore details though, as they say a photo is worth a thousand words. Now the photos will be in the following post as I feel they need to shine on their own. So here are the pictures from the day.

Stay on the blog for the Attitude pictures….you won’t regret it!
I’ve been commenting that the collections coming out of Toronto Fashion week this season are fantastic. I mean, that may not surprise some of you but I expect to not like at least one or two shows that I attend. How could every single designer present a collection that is totally me? It sounds ludicrous even when I say it out loud. In any case that is exactly what’s happening I have yet to be disappointed. High points for me as expected; Pink Tartan the show was awesome just flawless in its execution colour palette and fluidity. Chloe Comme Parris was also great and even the Korhani Rug Runway show had its points. The day closed with Bustle which was also a great show that featured dog sleds and snow!
I was backstage today and got to interview the designer from Korhani, as well as take a picture with the adorable pink poodle from the show. She was so sweet and well-behaved. The dog not the designer. (LoL) You’ll be able to see that interview on TGIF TV as well as the footage I got of Glen Baxter of In Fashion giving me his opinion on Chloe Comme Parris. Overall it was a day filled with good design and fashion fever from the crowd attending!
Check out the pics from the day below.

So that concludes day two coverage. I am a day behind so check back for Day 3 tomorrow. Oh it’s good it’s soooooo good!
Monday was the first day of fashion week here in Toronto and I have your scoop on what the venue looked like and a sneak peek of the shows from last night.
So far my favourites are the looks from the Pink Tartan portion of the Holt Renfrew show and pretty much the entire IZMA collection. If this is any indication of what the other collections will be looking like this season then we will be experiencing some amazing clothes! A fashionista’s heaven! Every major fashion personality was in the building last night and Jeanne Becker had the great pleasure of introducing Robin Kay who opened the evening with warm remarks. In any case check out the pictures below and check back here daily for your LG Toronto Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011 scoop!
